Problem

Chocolate packing operators, wearing woven gloves, brush off chocolates from nylon trays onto aluminium trays by hand. This can cause the following problems:

• High charges build up in the operators’ bodies leading to dramatic discharges, especially when the nearest earth is a metal framed work bench
• Continuous sparking between the operators’ bodies and the earth which can cause skin damage and extremely low morale

Solution

Mounting Model 976 Pulsed DC bars on the wall dividing the upper and lower conveyors eliminates the problem. A constant stream of ions bathes the lower conveyor, chocolates, nylon trays and the hands and arms of the operators ensuring neutralisation of static charges.
